Hey guys any follow-up situation reports on the reef project? How are the culverts and cinder blocks coming along?
I saw a doc on Batangas coastline. They are building AR's made of concrete! That is very good.

Just to share . . .
In La Union I've learned that they are using stacked coconut leaves in 10's as artificial reefs . . . these reef system are evenly scattered around a 30+ kilometer radius numbering about a thousand . . . these are easy to spot (starting 10km out) as these are anchored with long bamboo poles and practically serve as Payao's for the locals . . . the arti reefs where originally put in place and being maintained by a big fishing company to serve as Galungong (English?) habitat/reefs from which harvests are made regularly . . . so where there is baitfish there are predator fish making La Union very productive for the fisher folks . . . a typical outing from 4am to 4pm would allow them to troll with handlines about 200 arti reefs only . . . . not possible to cover all arti reefs in a day . . . . trolling the system can be productive but very challenging as there are lots of available baitfish for the predators etc.

| A brilliant idea by men and women who love the sea and it's bounty. I saw a similar array of discarded styropor pieces used as FAD's off Sorsogon Bacon District crossing towards Rapu-Rapu Island. Some boatmen tell me of 32 kgs. King Mackerel out there.
