Spooking Fish

I am all spooked up.

There has been no other lure that made me enjoy topwater fishing more than spooks. This hunk of plastic (or if you go classic, wood) has no lip, so it doesn’t have an action of its own; which is the beauty of this lure. Working this lure is like a puppet show and you are the puppet master; the basic way to move it is called the Walk the Dog.

There are a lot of resources on the net teaching you how to work this lure. Youtube has a ton of videos teaching you how to WTD and it’s variations.

If you don’t have this lure in your box, then you should go out and try it out. The strikes are explosive! (as are most topwater strikes) and I can assure you that you will be addicted to it.

The spook is equally at home in both fresh and saltwater. I have personally caught different types of Jacks, different types of snappers, at least 3 species of barracuda, queenfish and a host of different other species on them.

In freshwater, it is used for bass, haruan, toman, different types of catfish, arapaima…you get the picture.
