Here’s a shortie. Fished from the rocks of the Coconut Garden Resort in Cacnipa island, Palawan en route to El Nido. Fished for an hour, low tide while the sun was setting, on two consecutive days. Used storm and berkeley 3″ swimbait shads (the same ones I use for barramundi) and caught 5 lapu lapus  total, one of them by the wifey. I used a steady retrieve with the rod tip high,  casting the lure to weed  patches and beside rocks. Be sure to set your drag right. I lost a big one on a loose drag. The groupers make quick runs to cover.

I also caught another one when we were kayaking at around 3 pm. I just used my spare spool of mono and “trolled’ the same swimbait! Got 2 bites, only one was landed.

This just gave me another reason to make swimbaits one of my favorite baits.
